Summary of the best practice:
Green Steps started in 2015, and still is ongoing.
This project has been:
- – contributing to increase the level of knowledge from the community about sustainable development (from environmental, social, and economic approaches);
- – mobilizing people to work together, reinforcing values of friendship, cooperation,responsibility, and mutual respect;
- – activating people in environmental protection actions and arousing the curiosityin good ecological practices and behaviours;
- – raising awareness about a sustainable lifestyle, social inclusion, and helpingpeople to improve their creative skills.By addressing environmental issues in an innovative and creative way, with this project, the organization has connected the local and the international community.
Results & web-links:Green Steps already reached thousands of people and got national and international awards: in 2019, Teatro Metaphora was recognized by European Commission winning “The European Sustainability Award”. In the same year, from the hands of the President of the Republic of Portugal organization received a national award, the Gulbenkian Prize for Sustainability, for being considered a reference as a youth organization that promotes ecological behaviours and raises awareness for sustainable development.In 2021, the Green Steps became a winner of SALTO Awards 2021 in the Environment & Climate Action nomination.
